MIF Technology
(Magneto-Inertial Fusion)
Nuclear fusion is the process of combining light atomic nuclei to create a larger nucleus, releasing a significant amount of energy.
While other technologies rely on magnetic or laser confinement, our innovative approach utilizes mechanical means to compress hot plasma and facilitate the fusion reaction.
The reactor fulfills the strict requirements of the adiabatic process and satisfies the Lawson Criterion (nTτE ≥ 3.5 10^28 K s/m^3). It compresses the plasma from an initial pressure of ~0.003 mbar and a temperature of ~30,000 K to peak conditions of ~22,000 bar pressure, ~267 million K temperature, and ~2 μs confinement time; achieving a nuclear fusion reaction.
FRC Technology
(Field-Reversed Configuration)
While our MIF technology relies on mechanical confinement, our FRC technology utilizes capacitor banks and electromagnets to generate plasmoids; these are accelerated to extreme speeds toward one another to collide in the center, converting their kinetic energy into extreme heat before being compressed to further increase the temperature (~230 million K) and facilitate the nuclear fusion reaction.
The reactor design is similar in shape to the Polaris reactor developed by Helion Energy. However, its two sides are asymmetric in both their physical geometry and their nuclear firing configurations. Furthermore, one end is fed exclusively with pure deuterium (D), while the opposing end is fed with a pure, complementary fuel either deuterium (D), tritium (T), or helium-3 (He-3).
